Stale out dry out erase markers? Your whiteboard markers may take more life in them. Dip the tip in a footling ordinary rubbing booze. If color is drawn downwardly into the booze, there's life in your marker, and y'all can write with information technology some more at present that yous have treated it. If this does not work, and so the marker is probably out of lasting ability.

Question: Reviving Dry out Erase Markers?
Is there any way to recondition a dry eraser marking? I know it still has plenty of ink, but the cap didn't click well enough.

Pry off the bottom (it helps to put on rubber gloves- you tin grip it better) and put four-v drops of water on the terminate of the fat ink-supply thing and shop information technology upside down for a couple of days. I've never done it on dry-erase markers, simply it works bang-up on regular or permanent ones. (Ultra-fine to fat-tipped.)

Mayhap (Non Sure), assuasive the tip to sit a few hours in a small amount of rubbing alcohol? It should wick up into the marking butt, reconstituting the stale ink. Gently turn in upside downward & dorsum a few times during the soaking.
Keep sentry to be certain it doesn't dilute besides much. Regular markers tin be revived by soaking a few hours in a shallow amount of manifestly tap h2o. Sometimes leaves them a bit besides diluted, take to keep checking on them also.

This is NUTS... works for simply well-nigh annihilation else... how well-nigh soaking the tip in a shallow amount of plain white vinegar? anyone?

I utilise rubbing booze to remove the lettering from my dry erase board and so I'one thousand questioning using it to reconstitute the markers themselves. I could be wrong though, only questioning.

Estimate I'll have to surrender. I have tried: alcohol, water & nail polish remover w/o success. Simply affair I oasis't tried is vinegar. Possibly I should but buy new ones...:(

Easiest, fastest, cheapest method!!: adhere a cord to the finish of the marker (taping a knotted string works pretty well), spin the marker over your head several times. Centrifugal force will move whatsoever remaining ink to the marking tip. Make sure the cap is on though!! And be careful removing the cap, do it over a sink or wad of paper towels because sometimes a lot of ink can pool upward in the cap. I'thousand a math teacher at a depression income high school and we are ever looking to save money in our department!

Wow, the spinning thing works well. I got a lilliputian too over zealous on the spinning and was winging information technology around similar a helicopter, I retrieve three-5 good spins is enough. If not -do more. The ink does pool in the cap and I think i wasted a lot.
If you take a hard time attaching string to your marker, but tie it then wrap record around it as well, this should be secure enough. Good luck.

Spinning with a cord works like magic! I had a set of 4 dry erase markers that had stayed for 3 years in their packaging, still unused. When I tried them, 3 seemed dried out. I withal wonder how it is possible, with the cap sealing well and all. Anyway, I was pissed. I had the idea to put them tip down in alcohol.
After a couple of hours, one of them revived. Just even later on 3 days in the booze, the remaining two were yet inkless. I found this thread via google, tried Atwilkes' spinning trick, and seconds later, the 2 stubborn markers were revived! Give thanks you Atwilkes.

Holy Guacamole! I accept an old pre-1980's test tube centrifuge. A few seconds in that babe and voila. Just like new. Make sure to wear goggles.

You lot tin can possibly accept the terminate off of the dry erase marking with a pair of pliers and make full it with rubbing alcohol or h2o and put the end back on and wait over nighttime.

Do Not utilise water to revive dry erase markers!!! It doesn't work and makes the problem fifty-fifty worse by washing out whatsoever remaining color left in the marker.

My Expo Dry Erase markers are not old, but one but stale up and the hat was on it. Is there annihilation you tin do to "rewet" them?
